Voted Best Wedding Photographer in the UK

I'm not one to blow my own trumpet, I don't even particularly like to brag or boast. I'm an understated kinda guy. But when I found out I'd just been voted UK's Best Wedding Photographer I knew I had to shout about it, or at least tell people.

And when it happened again, for the second year in a row... I knew I had to tell a few more people about it.

I don't expect that you know much about how Wedding Photography Awards work, so I'll give you a quick, very simple run down on the three main types... A lot of them you have to pay to enter, and if you pay, you're pretty much guaranteed a badge. Some of them you pay to join a website, but to enter the competition is free. These are generally a popularity contest, whoever can get the most people to vote for them wins. There are a few you pay to join a website or an association (along with demonstrating a required level of skill and having a proficient portfolio), it's then free to enter the competition and the entries are judged by a panel of highly skilled and well respected photographers - the best photograph in their opinion wins. The award I've just won isn't really like any of them. But before I get into that I'd like to share a few kind words that have been sent to me by couples whose wedding I've actually photographed...

So, What's It Like To Be The Best Wedding Photographer In The UK?

A little overwhelming if I'm honest. I've never entered any competitions, or joined any photography associations. I didn't ask for this title. So yeah, I was a bit surprised when I found out, but at the same time I wasn't surprised at all. I mean, the person who gave me this award is always the first person (just before my wife) to like anything I put on Facebook, she always shares my posts and she's definitely been my longest 'number one' fan. In fact, the more I think about it the more surprised I am that it's taken me so long to get this award. But also, the more utterly worthless it is. I honestly think I could put up a blurry, out of focus and possibly offensive photo (just like the one at the top of this page) and this person would still say "Christopher! It's amazing. I'm so proud of you.". And I suppose for that I need to say "Thanks Mum!" especially when my Dad says things like "Is it meant to look like that?" 😂.

I guess what I'm saying is, it's subjective. You need to choose a photographer based on whose images speak to you the most, and whose approach aligns with how you want to spend your day. So, now you're here and you've made it this far why not have a look at my portfolio to get a good overview of my style.
